Frugal Homemade Laundry Detergent

Written By: Michelle, the Green-Mother

Making your own homemade laundry soap is very easy. It requires only three ingredients and minimal work. Making your own laundry detergent is a great way to save money per load and avoid toxins that many commercial brands contain. This recipe can also be used with HE front loader machines.

– One Bar Shaved Soap. I use Fels Naptha. You can use a cheese grater to do this. This soap can be ordered on Amazon.

– One cup of Borax. This product can be ordered on Amazon.

– One cup of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda. Do not confuse this with baking soda! It is not the same. This product can be ordered on Amazon.

Mix all of the ingredients together. Use two tablespoons per load of laundry. This formula will also work for HE front loader machines. The ingredients used make very little suds. I like to store it in glass mason jars.
