My Garden: Part 2

Garden Magic
“This is the garden’s magic,
That through the sunny hours
The gardener who tends it, Himself outgrows his flowers.

He grows by gift of patience,
Since he who sows must know
That only in the Lord’s good time
Does any seedling grow.

He learns from buds unfolding,
From each tight leaf unfurled,
That his own heart, expanding,
Is one with all the world.

He bares his head to sunshine,
His bending back a sign
Of grace, and ev’ry shower becomes
His sacramental wine.

And when at last his labors
Bring forth the very stuff
And substance of all beauty
This is reward enough”.

After hours of hard work, my garden has been completed. I look forward to many pleasurable visits to the garden with my boys. In the summer, they love to walk over to it and snack on fresh vegetables. I have to admit, those moments spent in there with my boys are special. Even at their young ages, they are able to appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature. They love to watch the seeds turn into plants as they sprout out of the ground. I love to see how they view this as magic.

It will be Nathaniel’s first summer  enjoying  the fresh produce. I am anxious to see the joy in his eyes as we walk over to the garden together. I am sure he will enjoy it as much as Liam and Xavier did in the previous summers.

Liam and Xavier always enjoyed picking the fresh tomatoes off their stems. Even more, they both enjoy watering the garden. Often, it can end up in a water fight between the both of them. If I am not careful, I may get sprayed also! I am looking forward to spending many pleasurable hours in the garden this summer.
